"My Thoughts on Trek's Attempt at Continued Existence"
As promised I will now post an exerpt from my one month's worth of mindless thoughts (plus a little extra from my current attempt at the record, you know cuz it's relevant to the first conversation...and whatnot). Now beware: these are more maniacal, and way way more ranty than my usual maniacal rantings, don't say I didn't warn...
This conversation took place on what I believe was Tuesday, February 27:
Ssor1014 (6:29:39 PM): well christmas 2008, the next odd numberd star trek movie that takes place around kirk and spock's acadamy days
Auto Response from Norahs1213 (6:29:40 PM): running to the library to get a CD
Ssor1014 (6:30:09 PM): sounds so bad that i might NOT wanna see it
Ssor1014 (6:31:09 PM): how much more do writers need 2 realize that people hate sci-fi prequels
Ssor1014 (6:31:14 PM): they do
Ssor1014 (6:32:46 PM): c'mon make it ds9 voyager even enterprise(best bet) but kirk's college days, that's just horrible
Norahs1213 returned at 7:01:42 PM.
Ssor1014 (7:02:17 PM): do i have a point
Norahs1213 (7:02:24 PM): yeah
Ssor1014 (7:02:34 PM): y can't they see it
Norahs1213 (7:02:41 PM): i dunno
Ssor1014 (7:03:51 PM): so tell 'em 2 quit w/ recounting a fictional history and get w/ the new material
Norahs1213 (7:04:01 PM): lol
Ssor1014 (7:04:50 PM): what's ur view on trek xi
Norahs1213 (7:05:11 PM): sounds stupid
Ssor1014 (7:05:47 PM): yep, a young kirk, a prequal, and an odd numberd trek movie
Norahs1213 (7:05:55 PM): lol
Ssor1014 (7:06:07 PM): only bad things can happen at this point
Norahs1213 (7:06:15 PM): :-)
Ssor1014 (7:07:23 PM): and the got they gut who wrote lost and made him director, who knows what that'll do
Norahs1213 (7:07:53 PM): lol
Ssor1014 (7:07:53 PM): it might create an overall weird effect
Norahs1213 (7:08:00 PM): maybe
Ssor1014 (7:08:13 PM): i just have a bad feeling
Ssor1014 (7:08:26 PM): uh oh......i'mma dumbass
Ssor1014 (7:09:11 PM): i said "i have a bad feeling"
Norahs1213 (7:09:27 PM): lol
Norahs1213 (7:09:40 PM): you know only bad stuff can happen, now
Ssor1014 (7:10:02 PM): i don't even know if i wanna watch it
Ssor1014 (7:10:19 PM): it's THAT iffy
Norahs1213 (7:10:48 PM): lol
Ssor1014 (7:11:13 PM): i just hope it don't kill trek 4 good
Ssor1014 (7:11:27 PM): the new cartoon idea intrigued me
Ssor1014 (7:12:00 PM): but i think that's still in the "hey i got a good idea..." phase
Norahs1213 (7:12:17 PM): lol
Ssor1014 (7:12:28 PM): so don't expect that till 2009-10
This next conversation took place just yesturday; Tuesday, March 27 (woah, that was weird):
Ssor1014 (7:21:22 PM): so anything u wanna rant about?
Norahs1213 (7:22:01 PM): not really
Ssor1014 (7:22:40 PM): all i got is "star trek XI should not be a prequal" but i think i told u that
Norahs1213 (7:23:08 PM): yeah
Ssor1014 (7:23:13 PM): "or at least not involving kirk"
Norahs1213 (7:24:17 PM): right
Ssor1014 (7:24:38 PM): the adventures of kirk and spock at starfleet academy? r u trying 2 kill star trek
Norahs1213 (7:24:51 PM): lol
Norahs1213 (7:25:04 PM): i want to see it...if it's like bill and ted
Norahs1213 (7:25:08 PM): lol
Ssor1014 (7:25:10 PM): i thought spock graduated years before kirk
Ssor1014 (7:25:22 PM): oh haha
Norahs1213 (7:25:29 PM): "spock and kirk's excellent adventure"
Ssor1014 (7:25:35 PM): :-Pboooo
Norahs1213 (7:25:45 PM): or "kirk and spock's"
Norahs1213 (7:25:50 PM): hehehehe
Ssor1014 (7:26:58 PM): and here's my reasoning y kirk and spock didn't meet at the academy.... i distintly remember t'pol saying she was 60 earth years old, and u know how girls r w/ their age
Norahs1213 (7:27:43 PM): lol
Ssor1014 (7:27:50 PM): and in the next generation sarek died at 200+ years young:-D
Norahs1213 (7:28:43 PM): right
Ssor1014 (7:29:18 PM): and besides who could replace the shat (other than the guy on new voyages)
Norahs1213 (7:29:38 PM): lol
Ssor1014 (7:29:59 PM): (what's w/ that guys hair, is he trying 2 be kirk or elvis?)
Norahs1213 (7:30:33 PM): i don't know
Norahs1213 (7:30:41 PM): i think i've only ever seen one "ep"
Ssor1014 (7:31:03 PM): http://www.trekcore.com/specials/tenforward/article3/newvoyages.jpg he's the guy u can't recognize in this pic
Norahs1213 (7:32:28 PM): i see
Ssor1014 (7:32:32 PM): and if u're having trouble, i say: u've seen generation's not captain hariman
Norahs1213 (7:32:52 PM): right
Ssor1014 (7:34:48 PM): wanna see the latest press (mar 8) about it
Ssor1014 (7:34:52 PM): well 2 bad
Norahs1213 (7:35:03 PM): nope
Ssor1014 (7:35:02 PM): http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1554046/story.jhtml#/movies/news/articles/1554046/story.jhtml
Ssor1014 (7:36:06 PM): it's being directed by the guy who made lost, i guess they just don't trust rick berman anymore
Ssor1014 (7:36:29 PM): again, i have a bad feeling about that
Norahs1213 (7:36:36 PM): lol
Ssor1014 (7:37:27 PM): despite the fact that lost is 1 of THE shows out there, i don't think he's done star trek
Norahs1213 (7:37:45 PM): probab;y not
Norahs1213 (7:37:48 PM): anyways
Norahs1213 (7:37:55 PM): i'm disappearing
Ssor1014 (7:38:43 PM): so u wanna see it 2 see how bad it is, and i'll see it cuz it's star trek and i pprobably won't have anything 2 do 'round then
Norahs1213 went away at 7:38:54 PM.
Norahs1213 (7:39:17 PM): actually, i don't really want to see it
Norahs1213 (7:39:22 PM): unless it is bill and ted
Ssor1014 (7:39:31 PM): .....THE HELL!
Auto Response from Norahs1213 (7:39:34 PM): doing things other than staring at my computer
Ssor1014 (7:39:54 PM): As for recent rumors that Matt Damon, Adrien Brody and Gary Sinise were being considered to play the storied Kirk, Spock and McCoy trio, the duo were reluctant to spill the beans. Asked if they would be happy if Kirk were played by Damon, a long pause followed. Finally Kurtzman allowed, "I'm the hugest Matt Damon fan ever. If he became [Kirk], great."
Ssor1014 (7:40:25 PM): *twichtwichtwich*
Norahs1213 (7:42:23 PM): lol
Ssor1014 (7:42:57 PM): well *sniffsniff* at least it'll go out w/ a bang
Ssor1014 (7:43:12 PM): or at least kicking and screaming
Ssor1014 (7:44:24 PM): i sure as hell hope i'm wrong about the whole thing
Norahs1213 (7:44:37 PM): :-)
Ssor1014 (7:45:26 PM): cuz dammit i wanna see another animated trek series, don't care what era it takes place in, i'll watch it
Ssor1014 (7:45:57 PM): if i know when it's on, when it's on
Ssor1014 (7:46:11 PM): i seem 2 have that problem
Ssor1014 (8:03:19 PM): and the fact that the rumor is that it'll be like the 5 (and under) min micro-episodes will make catching it while it's on evermore the callange
Ssor1014 (8:03:56 PM): oh, like the *blahblah* like clone wars....
Final Words: Well, This is the type of thing that causes controversy, like I said: "Matt Damon as Kirk?!? Are they trying to kill Trek now? Now a Trek cartoon, that may work." But I'm sure there are people who think: "A Trek cartoon?!? Are they trying to kill Trek now? Now Matt Damon as Kirk, that may work." Well, I'm only sure about what people think about the cartoon, who knows what Trek fans think of Matt Damon, and frankly I'm not sure if I want to know. And finally, one should not gaze into my mind, but I enjoy forcing it upon all you ignorant masses (nod to Lord Ilpalazzo on that one, HAIIIIIIIIIL: ILPALAZZO!).

Actually teh guy playing Kirk also has been a professional Elvis impersonator for 20 years. So he has to keep the hair style and length for Elvis. His natural hair color is a sandy shade of light brown. His name is James Cawley of Star Trek New Voyages ...
i don't care if they do a prequel or not, classic trek movies need to end. generations was iffy enough, best to pull the plug before things get horribly embarrassing, and definately end on an even number. 6 was good, leave it there.
matt damon wouldn't make a good kirk, and that's no kind of slam on matt damon. no one but shatner can act that spastic and expect people to take him seriously.
i didn't know that, thanks gary
my sentiments exactly rabidmonkey, leave the old alone, and start making some new, which is kinda how my thoughts of re-re-remastering star wars went
